Children 4 years and older are allowed, on game drives if they are always under adult supervision. Subject to change at the Mangers and Ranger’s discretion.

Umzolozolo Private Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the KwaZulu Natal Midlands only 4 hours from Johannesburg, 2½ hours from Durban or 40 minutes from the Drakensberg, just off the main N3 freeway. This Malaria free area provides an unrivalled safari experience with the opportunity to view Africa’s Big 5, including cheetah, under African skies. Umzolozolo is an intimate, privately owned, luxury game lodge where you will be able to enjoy the biodiversity of the reserve in near solitude. Experienced, enthusiastic game rangers will accompany you on game drives in open topped 4×4 game viewers, tracking the Big 5 and sharing their vast knowledge of the surrounding wildlife. At Umzolozolo, the emphasis is on personal service. In addition to a private bathroom, each suite has an outdoor shower, so our guests can immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of Nambiti, an unforgettable African experience.
Accommodation:
9 luxurious chalets and suites with panoramic views, freestanding, constructed with local materials and thatch. The air conditioned rooms are spacious and secluded with private viewing decks where guests can relax and observe the herds of zebra, wildebeest and impala as they graze below. The suites have been designed to allow maximum game viewing from every room with large picture windows looking out onto the valley. In addition to a private bathroom, each suite has an outdoor shower so that even while showering, our guests can immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of Nambiti. Showering in view of a herd of antelope or elephant is an unforgettably African experience!

Driving directions:
From Durban:
Head towards Johannesburg on the main N3 Toll Road, about (226 km). Take the exit 230 for N11/R616 towards Ladysmith / Bergville. Turn right over freeway. (500m). Continue on N11. Follow directions to Ladysmith / Newcastle. Continue through Ladysmith on N11 (12,4km). Turn right onto D45 (dirt road) (see Nambiti / Umzolozolo sign) (10,1km). At T-Junction turn right towards Woodlands Gate. (4,4km). Turn left at Woodlands Gate. (650m) You will see the thatched gate house on your left-hand side (Woodlands Gate). You will be welcomed by the guard, he will radio through to the lodge and let them know of your arrival at the main gate. The guard will directyou to the secure parking area, where your ranger will be waiting to transport you to Umzolozolo Lodge.
From Johannesburg:
Head for Ladysmith on the N3. Once you have entered KwaZulu Natal via Van Reenen, look out for the Ladysmith Toll off-ramp (at the bottom of Van Reenen’s Pass.). Turn left and drive toward Ladysmith on the R103. When you arrive in Ladysmith, drive straight through, following the N11 Road to Newcastle. From the last traffic lights leaving Ladysmith travel for ± 7kms. Turn Right onto the D45 Road at the brown Nambiti sign. Follow for +\- 10Kms, at the T-Junction turn right, travel alongside the Game fence for +\- 2Kms until you reach the thatched gate house on the left-hand side.You will be welcomed by the guard, he will radio through to the lodge and let them know of your arrival at the main gate. The guard will direct youto the secure parking area, where your ranger will be waiting to transport you to Umzolozolo Lodge.
